So if you know anything about us, you know how much we love living in Tampa Bay and promoting #EverythingLocal. Well, for the past five years or so, Ryan and I have been involved in organizing and volunteering for Startup Weekend Tampa Bay and Startup Weekend Youth Tampa. After years of hard work, Tampa Bay Startup Week was born.
The new year brings great things back to Tampa and we are once again part of a team putting on an awesome weeklong event called Tampa Bay Startup Week. Now in its second year, this celebration brings entrepreneurs, local leaders, and friends together over five days to build momentum and opportunity around our community’s unique entrepreneurial identity. Join in a celebration led by entrepreneurs and hosted in the entrepreneurial spaces you love.
This year’s Tampa Bay Startup Week is taking place from February 8th-12th in Tampa’s Downtown. Basecamp, our main space, will be located at District 3. NHIE Tampa Bay is excited to be hosting our very own track supporting our love of Tampa Bay, Everything Local. Each day of the week, we will be hosting different events to support our local economy and highlight the amazing things people are doing in our beautiful city. ALL events during the week long fun are FREE…..COMPLETELY FREE!
Here is a breakdown of our events:
Monday 12:00-1:30pm: Exclusive Print Drop– Join the Everything Local track with special guests, Cass LTD, as they premiere an exclusive art print drop at Le Meridien. Grab lunch and a new print piece while learning about the awesome things Cass Contemporary is doing around the community.
Tuesday 6:00-8:00pm: Celebrating Social Media at Ferg’s Live Presented by Reeves VW and JJ Taylor– Join us at Ferg’s Live Tampa as we celebrate all things SOCIAL MEDIA. Connect with other social media enthusiasts offline and in person while enjoying food and drink courtesy of presenting sponsor Reeves VW and their friends at JJ Taylor Distributing Florida & Tito’s Vodka. We will also have some emoji treats from local baker, From Audrey’s Oven for our VIP guests. Local nonprofit, Where Love Grows, will be on hand as our in-house spotlight organization too!
Wednesday 4:00-6:00pm: Tidal Boar Ginger Beer & Roux Signature Cocktail Tasting– NHIE Tampa has teamed up with local brand Tidal Boar Ginger Beer and Roux Tampa for a unique cocktail tasting experience. The mixologists at Roux are crafting up three different recipes using locally made Tidal Boar Ginger Beer. You will have the chance to taste all three and vote your favorite while enjoying small bites from Anise Global Gastrobar!
The crowd favorite along with expert opinion will be used to determine the winning cocktail. After Startup Week, you will be able to find this drink on Roux’s cocktail menu when you visit them on MacDill in South Tampa.
Thursday 7:30-9:00am: Startup Tshirt Swap at Geek Breakfast– Come have breakfast with the coolest Geeks in town and Holy Hog Barbecue. Geek Breakfast is a casual monthly meet up over coffee and breakfast to discuss new media, podcasting, blogging, programming, open source, social networks and more. If you are anything like us, you have tons of startup tees you’ve collected from the many geeky events you’ve attended in the past.
So bring those unwanted tees and swap them with another geek while enjoying breakfast on us! #tampageekbreakfast
Friday 12:00-3:00pm: Everything Local Market– NHIE Tampa Bay presents their first Everything Local Market. Come by Basecamp for lunch and some local shopping. Meet a bunch of local entrepreneurs while you browse the many items they have created. Help support local business by shopping small during the Everything Local Market. #everythinglocal #nhietb
